Big warm hugs for gathering again to open the 9th Keepsake. (((HUG)))

How did it go using Keepsake #8: being playful?

(First time here? Scroll to where you see ***. Each keepsake is  for you to open and enjoy the keepsake goodness).

I had fun sharing my Keepsake Journal (KJ) with you.

She’s a good gal, that KJ. She lets me vent, create, dream…without any judgment or critique. (not like the inner scrooge who I’ve named  @not me tresha ).

Thing is, keep a seeky? This is the why I’m offering each keepsake….so we can each give ourselves a pal like that, journal or no journal.

And hopefully, thinking ’bout things like being calm or being in charge of our thoughts is helping you friend your pal within. (Yes? No? lemme know what’s workin’ not workin for you as you think about each keepsake..if you wanna that is…always if you wanna around here). 🙂

And that brings me to why I’ve chosen this keepsake tonight.

So without further chatter-action…

Let’s be sure to ready up out space (find a quiet somewhere) and ready up our thought (put it on pause)…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Open up Keepsake #9: Be Still…
Hmmm…okay to have a favorite keepsake? 🙂
I love this one. So so much. This reminder to pause all thought and just…be.
Being still pauses often.
Being still is that sweet tender gift to ourselves that really does feel like a mental slowing down to a complete stop.
Being still….it’s vital. Let’s unwrap it some, kay kay?
Meaning and Visual
Mr. dictionary is pretty fair about the definition for ‘still’:  ‘at rest…free from sound or noise…silent..free from turbulence or commotion.’
Sounds yum, surely. But doing that? In thought? Sometimes feels im-poss-i-ble.  ‘how do you do that?’ or more, why?
Why I’m giving this keepsake
Once upon a time there was a hamster named T. And one of her favorite things to do was to worry, fret, doubt, and second guess. This hamster named T scurried round and round and round on her fave toy, her habitrail wheel. Rond and round she’d go and go and go and go some more.
“How do I know this is right?”
“What if this is wrong?”
“What if they laugh?”
“Well, they’re laughing anyways but what if they laugh louder? and get more peeps to laugh?”
“What if they still roll their eyes?”
“What if I’m supposed to be over there, doing that thing, ya know? instead of this thing?”
I know I’ll run. On my habitrail wheel. And worry some more. And some more….
~about other’s opinions
~about my why
~about how I live my why
~about whether my why should look like their why
~about whether or not any of us is doing what we’re supposed to
~about who’s doing it right and where to find them
~about everything that I haven’t worried about yet, because why not? mine as well….
And one day, she fell. Yep. Right off that wheel. And she couldn’t run anymore. So she sat.
And suddenly?
Lots slowed down. In her thinking.
~the worry
~the fretting
~the what – iffing
~the overwhelm
~the doubt
~the quest for ‘how to do it right’
And? She started to…feel still.
And she smiled. A big bright hampster smile. Like this: ;~)
The end.
How being still helps me
I was the hampster named T.
And now? I don’t run on habitrail wheels anymore. (they were kinda small…small thinking that is 🙂 ).
Nope. No more habitrails for me I tell ya.
These days? We keep it pretty still 24/7.
And if you believe that? You’re nuts.
Are you kidding me? Keep it still 24/7?
I wish!
BUT!!!!!!
We surely try. Often and much. And cuzza that? We get there….often and much. 😉
Less outa breath. More smiling. We likey living off the habitrail wheels. 🙂
How you ask?
I pray. I meditate, I get still intentionally because that’s where I can pause and listen for what the divine Mind wants me to think. (Happy to explain more and how I do that if you wanna know just email me at tre at thought by thought dot net).
How you can use it
What helps me much to still my thoughts is to intentionally do just this.
I actually do this first thing in the morning, in the middle of the day, lots of times throughout the afternoon, and a lot at night too.
Do what?
Get still.
Take a deep breath and pause and turn off the chatter.
What to try tonight
Remeber how with each one of these keepsakes we’ve ‘readied up our thought?’
You’ve already practiced getting and being still. 🙂
You already know how to be still.
All you need to do is keep doing this. A little bit more. Here and there.
Tonight? after you read this post, try this: I’m gonna guess that a bunch of you is appreciating what you’re reading, but the other parta you is on the fence like “dude there’s zero time to do what you’re saying. I’ve tried it. Too hard. Deosn’t owrk for me. Thanks but hasta la vista baby.”
If you’re saying that at all?
That’s the habitrail wheel yappin I’m talking about stilling.
Do this right now even.
Take a deep breath and go into your chatterbox and tell it to stop. And then make it stop. And every time another doubt wants to creep in, use Keepsake #7 and bolt the lock on your thought oasis door.
See? You can do this. You are doing this. You already love what it feels like to be still. 🙂
Okay…we’re at that moment when it’s time to hug and part.
If you wanna chat about anything that’s in this post, or about any of the keepsakes, leave a comment or send an email to tre at thought by thought dot net.
Thanks for being here and thinking together about the value of being still.
See you tomorrow night for another cozy keepsake gathering.
Big hugs,
Tre ~
