You Know Enough Right Now To Take One Step

There’s this familiar response we give ourselves when asking the biggies: “I don’t know.”

It’s easy.

And it may on some level be true.

But it’s often what overwhelm will say before fearlessness takes the reigns and starts steering.

And it’s often what anxiousness will say before calm, solution oriented perspective begins to lead thoughts.

Here’s the thing I wanna help you own: You DO know. You already KNOW. Right now. This moment.

You already have enough everything to make some — if not all — of the decision.

Because you know enough to be thinking about it….whatever the ‘it’ is.

The more I live, the more I learn that all the meditating in the world will calm you and allow you to brave up the fearlessness.

But taking one step is vital.

I call this living our prayer. Living our conviction.

Every time there’s a pausing and a listening, there’s a willingness to gain clarity.

That’s vital to sift thoughts and feel out options.

Every time there’s a tangible step taken, that’s living the conviction.

Anxiousness and overwhelm blow things way outa proportion.

They try to make everything seem like you need more time more money more knowledge more more more in order to figure something out.

They lie.

And if you heed the fears they purport, you become stuck, stagnant, stationary.

And they convince you with their lies. And you convince yourself. You convince yourself with

“I need more time.

I need more experience.

I need more money.

I need more of whatever.”

Don’t let them.

You know enough this moment to make a good decision. Even if it’s one small milli-inch of a decision towards the bigger one you want to make.

Is it a mistake to give yourself ‘time’ to figure out something?

No and yes.

No because sometimes we need moments to calm down and think through something.

But yes because often what we’re asking for when we want more time is a ‘pass’ and wait for the next turn.

Whether you need to own your life and make choices that support you, break out of patterns of behavior that don’t support you, or just get hold of your life in a way that feels manageable, whatever the ‘what’ is, begin with some step you can take this moment. Now. Today. This hour.
