What do you think?

Does the ad speak to you?

Is the site or scenario described inviting?

Maybe, huh? Depending on our mood?

Well, I’d be leery of the lack of light and the solo/silo feel would annoy after a while.

Honest? From the description, I’d never want to rent this kind of space.

And yet, if I don’t check ‘in’ with my thoughts throughout the day and see where they’re dwelling, I’m liable to find them subletting the dark room.

Why?

Because while it doesn’t take a whole lot of mental muscle to dwell, fret, ruminate, complain, or criticize, especially ourselves, it does take alertness and awareness and staying on top of thought to steady it off and away from such lures.

Left unsteered, thought can tend to wander around..dwelling on the past, ruminating over something that we don’t think occurred the way we hoped it would, or reviewing a circumstance we wish resulted in a different outcome.

Or, thought can feel overwhelmed by how much there is to change, to do, to accomplish any preferred goal so it runs away and hides and sits and frowns and ponders and frets and feels all alone.

The more we check in to thoughts, see where we’re dwelling and what we’re lending our focus to, the more we’ll see how ‘steerable’ thought is to and toward our sense of what we wish to think about–and dwell on ideas that matter with intention–and take action that matters with intention.

It helps me to have a metaphor like this.

What do you think?

Here to help you own your thoughts.

Be well……
