We cling sometimes to that wall
because it gives temporary security…so we expect…so say all
“Cut ties…close the door…
You’re a fool if you allow them tinker with your heart once more…”
So say the masses…
Ever so proud in their insisting…
Yet all the while self justifying…
And completely missing…
What happens when grace says “Loosen that grip”
And what happens when innocence begs us “Give her/him another chance”
And what happens when Truth says “I’ve got you… I’ve got him”
And what happens when Love says “Keep on…again and again…”
The beauty of our lives is that we can keep on and begin anew to reframe our view of someone again and again…
We can not only loosen but forever let go that grip that ousted and said “never again”
We can at once choose another form of safe…
The one that leans on Love…
instead of walls that self justify, oust and negate
Tis true I’ve clung to walls many a time before…
But oh the growth and true courage and security I have known when I let go those false measures fear builds guised to protect one’s heart.
There’s nothing more humbling than letting go all that’s been built in fear
And like a little one arriving for the first time
We can each begin again….
Not to expect that bad will happen
But to defend and to know that as we lean on Love…
We can see a new person
In that other we once pushed back
In ourselves we once abused in punishment
In our fellow man we once feared as evil doers
In our world we once were convinced would always forsake us…
Love isn’t blind ignorant naive or even dumb
It is the wisest of all because it remains true power.
And when so much feels like “really? must I keep on and try once more?”
There’s Love reminding us all: “But of course it’s what you’re here for…”
To Love…
To beginning anew each moment…
To seeing ourselves innocent and in that view one another…
My heart to yours…
