Tre’s Tech Tips: What they are and What they’re not

Hey there. Hope all’s well.

My blog is fast evolving as my online live/work studio, literally.

You can come in, see what I’m workin’ on, read posted items, review folks’ comments and questions and add your own. And soon there will be options to gather for a discussion, engage in video conferencing, and other stuff.

And while I evolve this work, I’m learning much I feel the need to post and share. I’m a huge believer in open source /sharing = accessible learning for all. And something in me just keeps thinking “My sister is gonna need this. My mom and her peers may want to learn this. My cousins will need this someday.”

In other words, as I teach myself a skill online, I can’t help but think I don’t want the peeps I know and love to have to go through the rigamorole of all the steps I took to learn that skill. I wanna give it to them in as neat and simple of a package as I can.

And more, I’m getting enough phone calls for help in this light that I want to have a resource I can steer folks to. I learn visually. And if I already have an online trunk if you will of storage of tech tips….whoa! How cool is that? I can just get online with someone and point/click as we go.

Now here’s what this post is not.

1. This is not a list of everywhere I searched in order to learn the skill.

2. Nor is this a collection of great tutorials already out there teaching the skill.

I don’t want to burden you with the former while the latter is a fabulous idea which is why you can leave comments suggesting links for that type of thing.

So each week or however often I’m nudged, I’ll post something under the category: Tre’s Tech Tips.

Think of Tre’s Tech Tips like an interactive bulletin board.

  • You can take the tip and use it however you need.
  • You can comment or with feedback or questions.
  • You can post links to the same types of learnings via you tube or another blog or whichever source you’re finding helpful.

And what’s more, Tre’s Tech Tips will always be here, stored for anyone’s learning at any point.

Cool?

Okay. Now here’s what to expect:

Posts under Tech Tips will follow this format:

  • What?: the tip itself
  • Why?: the purpose for this tip
  • How?: how to do the tip
  • More: a few insights and forecasts

One more thing. I’m a visual learner. Expect to see these tips evolve into a more visual format. I’m in the midst of teaching myself some screencasting. And once I learn that, I can implant images of the how to pages and also add some video to make the read a bit more visually interactive for you. Because that’s just how I learn.

Cool? Okay. See ya back at Tre’s Tech Tips #1.
