Hello friend,

This poem walks through my thought process yesterday…as I wrapped my arms around the events and wrestled with a sense of being attacked. Having lived for 8 years just blocks from the finish line, it all hit me hard, like you.

I offer how I shifted from panic to calm in hopes that how I chose to respond– in thought– may offer you a simple how to lean on a sense of faith in the midst of a tragic event, whether close to home or anywhere around the globe. If any of this resonates, I welcome hearing from you either in the comments below or contact form.

Thanks for reading…Big heartfelt love, thought by thought. Tre ~

We hear the news of a tragic event…

At once, thought feels the weight of horror’s impact…

Unable to fathom the incomprehensible of attack.

We stare in shock at images, our tears ask how could this happen?

We reach out to friends and loved ones to no avail

For the 617 area code is down in that no cell zone

We search for anything else to do to help..

We muster up courage, remember (hello) to pray

To care for our own thought about the horrible mess

And in that stillness and calm which ensues

while praying to advocate and defends divine Love’s all presence

We’re reminded that everywhere all over the planet, Love is doing Her work

Caring , every one of His offspring in every nation on earth…

Yet inspite of that knowing, fear keeps tempting “but where is God in Boston?”

So we know we must dig deeper to heal than any of beloved could be forgotten.

So we roll up sleeves mentally and keep insisting Love IS right there on Boylston street right in the midst…

In the first responders and the passerbys who paused to help…

In the hundreds of pedestrians who take in those needing a place to rest…

In the many who worked all through the night doing hospital rounds…

In the bomb squads and security who walked every street of that sweet city-town…

In the folks who tweeted from the earliest to the wee hours of the night…

And we pause and remember that Love is steering all first responders

And remember those around the world who paused to hold a good thought.

At the dinner tables and pub counters where families and neighbors hold hands to pause for hope

Where is God? we may have been tempted to initially ask

Surely we see Divine Love at work everywhere when we are forced to demand such

And could it be that one blessing from the smoke of yesterday

Nudges us to demand this evidence more readily throughout the minutiae of our day?

What if we resolve to insist on right here in my thought-hamlet is Love ?

Would we be inclined to see its tender care of each and every one?

Could we create our own thought filter when the horrible seems the reality ?

And instead choose to zoom into the what LOVE IS DOING practically and tangibly?

I surely am resolving to insist on seeing that view…

And its healing the pulls to feel evil acts will forever continue

And while some will want to retaliate and use force,

Couldn’t all of us choose instead to insist that Love is going to steer our thought course?

Indeed we can all Love more.

Indeed we must Love on…
