The pause ~ ~ ~

Busy days…
Busy hours…
Busy moments…
Always on,
Always needing to give,
to out-pour, to be “on” for our responsibilities…for our loved ones… for all that we must get done each day…

To pause may feel an unnecessary notion, even a bit absurd.

And yet….

Is there an ache that feels something isn’t getting done? Or something is being left undone? Or like something is being left behind, neglected or forgotten?

A pause calms thought….
A pause settles the mental stewing…
A pause enables us to regroup…re-establish…remind if we need to or refocus if we must…..

A pause is just that…
A conscious commitment to ourselves to “check in” like we do in gowalla or foursquare but this time the place is our thoughts…

We check in –via phoning, in person, and email– with friends and family…
We check in— post status updates — with our online connections…
We check in — via showing up — at work with colleagues

We check in — usually first and foremost — in our day to day with our to do list….

But the pause invites us to check in with our hearts… with our inner core where we are most honest and bare and raw with ourselves… Where we are the most honest and yet surely and at times too often the most neglectful.

We owe ourselves this pause — even if we know nothing about how to get still and listen to our hearts while doing so…(and if this is true for you be in touch as I would adore helping you learn how to get still and listen to your heart)…

We owe our creating this pause—  of what we hope to accomplish with our lives —

We can begin at any moment… even right this very one.

So pause with me,  won’t you?
And let’s ‘check in’ with our hearts and listen for that inner knowing of

“yep, I am up to what I’d hoped to be”

or more likely “nope I’m nowhere where I thought I’d be at this point”

or more likely “hmmm, I’m actually only a bit off from where I’d hope to or need to be….”

And let’s giggle about whatever got us a bit off track or about the pure joy that in relinquishing what we thought “it” had to look like, we may have just found an even sweeter taste of what’s possible. 🙂

What say you?
What Do you see and hear when you pause?

    I hear/feel God’s Love, when I pause.
