Hi friend…

This is me holding your hand and hugging you for being here and taking moments out of your holiday schedule to just find a quiet space to tuck up together.

I so value you being here, truly.

Tonight we open our 10th keepsake. Kinda neat to think, huh? That we’ve already shared nine so far? 🙂

If you haven’t followed along for all of the keepsakes and/or if you’re new here, scootch way down to where you see the 3 ***. Each keepsake is there waiting for you to open and enjoy. (No leftovers. Plenty to share. Always. No one neglected here, ever. Not in this space). 🙂

Prepare to Open:

Let’s be sure to

a. ready up our space (find a cozy somewhere to be) and

b. ready up our thought (still all the hubbub within) and let’s open open open…

Keepsake #10: Be Practical

Hmmm.

I just soo connect with the sound of that word, don’t you?

There’s something raw about it…something hands on.

Something reassuring.

Something permission granting about it.

Something ‘you can do this’ about it.

I just adore the essence of practical.

Take a look at the meaning:

Mr. dictionary invites us to think of it this way:

~inclined toward or fitted for actual work or useful activities: a practical person; mindful of the results

Some helpful (to me) visuals:

When I think of practical, you know what I visualize?

~ a clothes line with sheets and towels hanging from it (see above).

~ a light bulb.

~ a  gallon of milk

~ a phone (and its charger).

~ a loaf of bread.

~ a hunk of cheese.

~ a pair of shoes.

The point: When I grow up, I want to be a farmer. 🙂

Practical? is simple. without sloff…

Practical is functional without fluff.

Practical is gliding smoothly without glitches.

Practical is also deep breath calm being when anxiousness and overwhelm wanna blare and run the show. 🙂

Why I am choosing to give this keepsake:

Practical mommies me.

All the time.

Every day in fact.

Why?

Practical is predictable.

There’s security, stability, and safety in practical…in that which works, functions, and is reliable.

I love practical.

I didn’t used to.

I used to think practical wasn’t good enough…that it was lazy or just for ya know, boring people, the non creatives.

(yeah, I did used to judge people like that, lump them into stereotypes. sigh).

HOW I USE THIS KEEPSAKE

Practical mommies me this way:

I ask, often, “Tre, what do you need to be right now in this moment? What do you need to be doing in this moment? How do you need to be right now?”

Practical helps me so much do what needs to be done and to remember to BE is the whole point.

Practical remembers to meditate throughout the dayfor myself–and so that I stay refueled to help others.

Practical make PB&J while she’s designing a game plan for a blog series. 🙂

You are already an expert at being practical.

We all are.

The real way ‘being practical’ mommies me?

Giving myself permission to be it, especially when the pulls of perfectionism wanna wheazle into thought and run the show.

Practical helps me so much keep a commitment to my heart.

You betcha practical mommies me.

All the time. 🙂

How you can take it with you:

Ask yourself: Is there something I’m being too hard on myself about?

If you answer yes, ask: What would “practical” do?

Sit with that for a few moments. Hold that answer. And see if you can breathe with thinking you are allowed to do what practical would do.
